Moses Sulph has been charged for rape. Yesterday we told you about well known Belize City activist Moses Sulph who was in the custody of Belmopan Police pending the outcome of a rape investigation. Sulph was walked over from the Belmopan Police Station this morning, in the company of two Police officers and was arraigned in the Belmopan Magistrate Court where he was served with a PRELIMINARY INVESTIGATION charge; meaning that the incident will be referred to the Supreme Court. According to the complainant, 36year old Moses Sulph had sexual intercourse with her, against her will on the afternoon of Tuesday February the 12 at a home located within the site seven area of Belmopan. The media spoke with Sulph after exiting the court room this morning.

Sulph was granted bail of $5000 dollars with two sureties of $2500 each. The guarantees of his bail is that he’s to appear before Police every Thursday between the hours of 8am-5pm, have no contact whatsoever with the complainant and is not to appear before the court for any other criminal matter while out on bail. Sulph was unrepresented in court this morning and chose the Queen Street Police Station as the precinct where he’s to report weekly. His case was adjourned for May 10th.
