Motorcycle rider dies after colliding with a cow

A 24 year old has died after colliding with a cow in Spanish Lookout.  A witness, Bernhard Penner who is a Mennonite Farmer of Duck Lane Spanish Lookout Community, reported to Police that shortly before 7pm on Saturday November 2nd, he was en route to his farm in Spanish Lookout. When he passed the junction of the road that leads to the Aguacate Lagoon, he noticed a black cow, standing on the left side of the road, so he slowed down and passed the cow. Seconds later, Mr Penner says, he saw a motor cycle coming from the opposite direction, travelling at about 50 miles per hour. Bernhard Penner told Police that he was about 100 yards from the cow, when he noticed that the lights for the motorcycle went out, so he immediately turned around and drove back to where he had seen the cow earlier. Mr Penner says that upon his arrival, he noticed that a male Hispanic who was riding the motorcycle had collided into the cow and was on the ground bleeding from injuries he received to his head. Mr Penner then called ambulance and the police. The individual was then transported to the Western Regional Hospital and later identified as 24yr old Raul Rodas, a Honduran National of Duck Run Village. Raul Rodas was later transported to the Karl Heusener Memorial Hospital for further medical attention but succumbed to his injuries at 10a.m. on Sunday November 3rd.
