Mr. Lieth Leeton Bermudez Charged for Attempted Murder

Supreme Court of BelizeOne of two men believed to have been involved in a broad daylight shooting in the city last week Wednesday was in court today.

18-year-old Lieth Leeton Bermudez, aka “Hell Buoy”, was charged for the attempted murder of 17-year-old Tarique Gillett. Bermudez, who was unrepresented, appeared before the Senior Magistrate, Sharon Fraser this morning where he was read two criminal and indictable offenses of attempted murder and dangerous harm upon Tarique Gillett.

Belize-Police-BadgeThe shooting incident occurred last week Wednesday, March 12, on Holy Emmanuel Street in the Gungulung area of Belize City.

According to police, on March 12, 2014, at about 3:13 p.m., Gillett was in the company of three men when two men on bicycles rode up on them and open fired.  The minor was shot in the right side of his chest but is fortunate to be alive to tell the tale.  In court, no plea was taken from Bermudez and due to the nature of the offense, bail could not be offered and he was remanded to the Belize Central Prison until May 5, 2014.
