The United Democratic Party held its Stann Creek West Convention on Sunday March 16th despite one of its contenders boycotting the convention. Delroy Cuthkelvin boycott the event following an emergency meeting on Friday, March 14, 2014, in which UDP Chairman Alberto August insisted on using a voter block-out list of almost 900 electors which the Cuthkelvin Camp said was fraudulently compiled in collusion with Melvin Hulse.
Mr. Cuthkelvin, via a press release stated that his camp was calling on Party Leader Hon. Dean Barrow to intervene and find an objective arbitrator to resolve the issue and to set a new date for the convention. That didn’t happen and the convention went on as planned despite Cuthkelvin’s absence.
Melvin Hulse was the winner. The total votes cast were 2,134. Ten were spoilt, Delroy received 19 votes, Alex Romero 882, and Melvin Hulse got 1,223 votes. Hulse goes up against incumbent PUP area representative Rodwell Fergusonin the next general elections.
