Multibeam Survey public consultation cancelled

The Ministry of Economic Development, Petroleum, Investment, and Trade has cancelled the planned public consultations on marine multibeam and sea seep survey that was scheduled for next week Wednesday.  Last night, we told you that the Belize Coalition to Save Our Natural Heritage, who is strongly opposed to these surveys, had begun consultations of their own with residents of some of the coastal  and island communities. We were told that some of those concerned residents would have made their way to the consultations to protest since they believe that the surveys are really just the first step to offshore drilling.   While government has announced the cancellation, it has offered no reason for its decision.
