Multiple shootings leave six injured

In addition to the murder in Belize City and murder-suicide in Ladyville there were no less than four shooting incidents in Belize City in the span of 48 hours, leaving a total of six persons injured. Supt. Hilberto Romero, officer in charge of Criminal Investigation Branch tells us about the first incident which took place about 7:30 in the evening of April 17 on Curl Thompson Street in the Jane Usher Boulevard area, for which Police have made an arrest.

“Wendy Lambey along with Aaron Munnings received gunshot injuries. Aaron Munnings was shot to the right side of the jaw whilst Wendy Lambey received gunshot wounds to both of her legs. For that shooting we have since charged Justin Hyde for two counts of attempt murder, two counts of deadly means of harm and two counts of dangerous harm.”

 

According to Supt. Romero, Lambey received her injuries when the gunman ran into her house chasing Munnings and turned the weapon on her. There were children present in the house at the time who avoided injury. Both Lambey and Munnings are stable at the KHMH. Police have since arrested and charged 19-year-old Justin Hyde of  Curl Thompson Street Belize City for the Crime of attempted Murder, Dangerous Harm, and Use of Deadly Means of Harm . ……. 20 minutes later on Friday night on Banak Street near Magazine Road there was another attack, this time on a teenage boy; 18 yer old Nissane Usher. “We had another shooting where Nissane Usher, eighteen years was on Magazine Road and he received one gunshot wound to the left foot. We have one person that we are looking for, for that shooting and he has not been found.”

 

Police have not determined if gang rivalry was behind this incident and continue their investigations…….. There was more shooting on Saturday night when around 10:15 p.m. two attackers of dark skin on a motorcycle targeted a 34 year old man and a 14-year-old girl. “We had another shooting where one Levar Taylor and Tara Centino both received gunshot wounds on Police Street. Levar Taylor was shot on his shoulder and Tara Centino was shot on her right leg. All persons remain in stable condition

 

Police believe that Centino had no relation to Taylor and was innocently attacked. ……..And finally, early on Sunday morning, 41 year old Kent Cole of Central American Boulevard was shot at from a green Mazda SUV on Cemetery Road. Supt. Hilberto Romero tells us more.

“We also had the shooting of Steven Cole. This happened on Sunday, April 19th on Cemetery Road. He received one gunshot womb to his upper arm.”

 

 In all incidents, other than the shooting of Wendy Lambey and Aaron Munnings, police have made no arrests. Their investigations continue.
