Murder accused’s girlfriend in trouble over marijuana

vlcsnap-1457-03-29-03h59m33s033A 21 year old woman tried to smuggle marijuana to her boyfriend, accused of murder, in court, after she was not allowed to see him when she visited the Magistrate’s Court today. Meagan Leslie, partner to 25 year old Ryan Alvarez, who is on remand on vlcsnap-4805-09-21-22h51m38s322accusation of murder and other charges, is now in trouble, awaiting charges of drug trafficking at the Queen Street Police Station. Earlier today, Leslie came to the Belize City Magistrate’s Court requesting permission to give Alvarez her boyfriend a medication and some water. But due to protocol, she was refused permission to see him at that time. Alvarez appeared in court and was told to return on March 9, 2016. On his way back to the holding cell, police saw Leslie hand him a rag. It was quickly taken away and opened, to discover some green leafy substances suspected to be cannabis. The exact amount is unknown, but after the discovery was made, Alvarez began to act disorderly and claimed that the rag and weed was what he came from prison with today and that the items are his. Leslie is expected to be charged and appear in court on Wednesday.
