A former prisoner Frank Castro was gunned down last night in Punta Gorda. 38 year old Frank Castro was serving a 15 year sentence for robbery. Castro was released from prison about two years ago, however some minutes after 7 pm on Wednesday April 22nd, 38 year old Castro of Indian Ville, Punta Gorda was shot and killed while he was taking a crate of soft drinks to a residence in Corozal Street, Punta Gorda town. Inspector Ernel Dominguez, Deputy officer Commanding Punta Gorda Police Station told us more.
“Police also learned that earlier he was on Corozal Street transporting a crate of soft-drinks to some resident in that area when he was approached by someone who fired shots at him where he received the injuries. Police investigations into this matter continue as the body awaits a post mortem at the Punta Gorda Towns Hospital’s Morgue. We are not clear if it is one person or two persons or whatever the amount of persons was. We are not clear on that, however we have been given a few information where we are following some leads. So I must say at this stage that the police investigations are still occurring. So far the motive and other circumstances surrounding the shooting is not yet clear.”
Castro received gunshot injuries to the left side of the chest and left shoulder. This latest homicide has left the community of Punta Gorda, a relatively peaceful town, in a state of shock.
