The owner of a popular establishment in Ladyville, Belize District, and his common-law wife of 10 years are both dead tonight. But police believe that one of them may have pulled the trigger on the other and then killed themselves afterward. 54 year old Michael Estell, a Belizean-American businessman was found with a single gunshot wound to the right temple in the bathroom of his residence on the Old Airport Road. Next to him lay 30 year old Colleen Michelle Sharp with a pool of blood surrounding her and a single gunshot wound to the face above the right eyebrow. Between them lay a black and chrome licensed .380/9mm Smith and Wesson pistol with a live .380 round in the chamber. Police report that according to their investigations, Coleen and Michael were out socializing on the night of April 18 and had arrived home at approximately 10:00 p.m. and no one had seen them since. Family members contacted police after being unable to reach the pair and when they went to the residence what happened became painfully clear. All that remains, according to Superintendent of Police Hilberto Romero, is to establish the circumstances surrounding the deaths of Estell and Sharp. But that will be difficult as no one seemed aware of any problems at the residence and there are no other obvious motives. Supt. Romero discusses the police’s investigation so far.
Police visited the second floor of a story building where they found the lifeless body of Michael Estell, 54 years old, with a single gunshot wound to the right side of his temple and Michelle Sharp, 30 years old, received a gunshot wound to the right side of her face, near her eyebrow.”
