In November of 2012, John McCafee, a British-American living in Belize, who became internationally known for his antivirus software, became a suspect in a murder investigation. The GSU searched his residence and the police wanted him for questioning, but instead of reasoning with the authorities, McCafee went on the run only heightening the suspicions of authorities.
In 2013, he was discovered in Guatemala and landed in the hands of police authorities there. A very peculiar sequence of events followed which included an alleged heart failure, which he claimed he faked to get out of the hands of Guatemalan authorities. The last we heard was that he was back in the United States.
Since then, traces of a continued investigation have become scarce while McCafee enjoys his freedom. Oddly enough, even McCafee seems to be dissatisfied with the attempts of the authorities to catch him. He has recently made a video, that has been circulating on Facebook, directed to his, and we quote “Best friends engaged in the treasure hunt.”
He makes reference to his friends in the Sinaloa Cartel and also makes a special taunting note to the Minister of National Security Hon. John Saldivar.
“This is my message to all of my friends out there that i mentioned in the earlier part of this message…ah…specially to John Saldivar. I am seriously offended that you can send the little boy ways. I expect some real men next time”.
Of course we tried to get comment today from the Minister himself, but he declined .
