Murder suspected in death of Julio Cesar Lopez Funez

What was supposed to be a quick errand to the bank, turns deadly for a Dangriga resident. Harry Arzu has this story.

vlcsnap-2013-03-01-18h59m55s160Police here in Dangriga are investigating the circumstances surrouding the death of an Hispanic male person, that occurred on Friday, March 1st, at about 9:15 p.m.  Initial investigation revealed that on Wednesday, February 27th., 25 years-old Julio Cesar Lopez Funez left his home left his home located on Magoon Street at about 8 a.m., en-route to his bank to withdraw some money.  Reports are that at about 1:26 p.m.on February 27th., Police visited a yellow board house situated on Tubroose Street, where they observed a male person suffering from injuries to his face and mouth, lying down in an unconscious state.  He was transported to the Southern Regional Hospital, and on Thursday, February 28th., he was taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital for further treatment, due to the seriousness of his condition. Unfortunately, Funez sucummed to his injuries the next day, at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital.  What really happened to Funez?  Was he robbed and beaten?  Did he fall suddenly on his face?  How did he receive the injuries seen on him?  Police here are awaiting a post-mortem examination

Dangriga Police is investigating the case as a murder.
