National Security Council briefed on Belize’s military readiness

The Minister of National Security held a meeting with Security Forces High Command this morning at the Price Barracks in Ladyville.  Minister of National Security Hon. John spoke with Commander of the Belize Defence Force Brigadier General David Jones; Rear Admiral John Borland, Commander of the National Coast Guard; Acting Commissioner of Police Russel Blackett; and CEO Colonel (Ret’d) George Lovell of the Ministry of National Security. The strategic military planning session was held in advance of and in preparation for the meeting of the National Security Council held later today to determine the country’s further course of action in light of the developing situation on the borders.   All security forces have been placed on high alert and a short term strategy has been devised to deal with further possible incidents along the border areas and in the Sarstoon. A meeting of the National Security Council was held later today where the  Council was briefed on Belize’s military readiness.
