New initiative to build Belize’s capacity for disaster risk management

A new initiative to build Belize’s capacity for disaster risk management and response was signed today. The United States Agency for International Development is providing thirty grand to the Belize Disaster and Rescue Response Team. The money will go toward the training of the District Emergency Rescue Response Unit in the Stann Creek District.  Instructors from BDARRT and District Emergency Management Organization (DEMO) district coordinators will conduct a series of trainings to improve responses to disasters and to develop trained response teams to be on call at all times to provide prompt and efficient rescue response services.
