Manager of MJ’s Night Club, 35 year old Ray Herrera, must pay fines of $4,000, after pleading guilty to two counts of employing persons not in possession of a temporary employment permit.

Immigration officers on routine patrol in the area of West Collet Canal Street, Belize City, where the club is located, went in and observed two women apparently working as waitresses. The officers asked the women for their identification and they produced Honduran passports, but could not present anything showing their status in Belize, including work permits.

As a result their employer, Ray Herrera, was charged and fined $2,000 on each count, by Magistrate Herbert Panton.
