The body of 24 year old Emerson Daly, Belizean party decorator, was discovered on Wednesday at around 8:30 am, in an area behind Banana Bank, in the Cayo District.
Emerson Daly reportedly went missing on Sunday night, when he borrowed his uncle’s car and left his home in Roaring Creek Village en route to Belmopan.
On Tuesday, hours after the report was made of his disappearance, police discovered the empty vehicle in Mount Hope, Belmopan, with apparent blood on the back seat of the car.
The following morning, his body was discovered by a family search party.
Initial investigations had revealed that Emerson Daly had multiple apparent stab wounds to his body. However, an onsite postmortem that was conducted on Wednesday afternoon ,concluded that Emerson Daly died as a result of a single gunshot wound to the head.
We spoke to Officer Commanding Belmopan Police Station, Superintendent Howell Gillett, who told us that they have a few people in custody, however there is no clear motive at this time.
Superintendent Howell Gillett – Officer Commanding Belmopan Division
“I don’t know that any message was sent, or that he died from stab wounds, but the postmortem is saying that he dies from an injury to the face, likely from a gunshot wound, more likely [from] a shotgun.
So we’re investigating. We have a few persons in our custody. We continue to investigate. We haven’t had any concrete motive. I’d like to share, if I had, with the public, but thus far we don’t have any concrete motive.
As we speak, our investigators are following a few leads, and later on this week we’ll have some new developments to report to the public and to the media.”
The body of Emerson Daly was laid to rest at the Roaring Creek Burial Ground on Wednesday evening. Emerson would have turned 25 next month.
