OAS calls meeting between Belize and Guatemala

Prensa Libre: Guatemala says that the next 15 Days of Public consultation are crucial to the referendum process between Belize and Guatemala. The Paper reports that the Organization of American States (OAS)  has called a meeting between the authorities of Belize and Guatemala which will potentially be the last meeting to decide what will happen to the October 6th referendum. According to the article, both parties only have up until the end of April to decide a way forward as in May the Supreme Electoral Tribunal will meet to decide if referendum should be carried out to resolve the dispute at the International Court of Justice (ICJ). The article ends by saying that  Guatemala requested a suspension of the process because Belize will not reverse its law, which it says ” toughens the validation of referendums to achieve equal conditions”
