PLUS News learned today that residents of the Old Northern Highway in the village of Ladyville have been told that M&M Engineering, which they accuse of disturbing their peace with heavy activity at their construction compound and damaging several sections of road in the area, must limit that activity to one section of the road and maintain it.
That is the directive of the Ministry of Works following a meeting with the residents, and later with the company organized in Belmopan last week by area representative for Belize Rural Central Dolores Balderamos-Garcia.
Hon. Garcia told PLUS News in Belize City today that after listening to the petitions of residents in that section of the highway branching off from Mile 10 of the George Price Highway up to its rejoining at Mile 12 and surrounding areas, the Ministry took action.
Residents had complained that the vehicles passing throughout the day had severely worn the road down and gave them no peace.
