“Sometime about 8pm last night police were called to La Croix in the Saint Martin Deppores Area. Upon arrival police observed Keiran Morrison and Kent Brooks. Both were suffering from gunshot wounds as a result of a shooting in that area. Both men were transported to the KHMH where Keiran Morrison succumbed to his injuries. Brooks is currently admitted in a critical condition. We believe that it is gang related based on what we have gathered so far and there are some instances that gang members are living in what is called the territory of the other. This is one of those circumstances but there is no reason for them to be killing out themselves. I can say from a police standpoint that we have done a lot of work in that area and you can see that it has been dormant for quite some time and that is attributed to the work that we have been doing. We will continue to work in that area.”
ACP Williams noted that they have detained two persons from the area, but they are considered “persons of interest” and not suspects at this time. Morrison died while receiving treatment at the KHMH. According to Kent Brooks Senior, the father of the wounded teenager, he was shocked to get the news from a neighbour as he came home from work. He told us that his son needs blood, no type specified, which can be given at the Blood Donor Service next door to KHMH. If his son makes it to the weekend he will undergo another surgery to try to recover the bullet lodged in his abdomen.
