Orange Walk inmate commits suicide

An Orange Walk inmate allegedly hung himself after being detained by the police. On Friday the 17th of June at 1:15 a.m., Orange Walk Police reported that earlier that day, a male prisoner, 29-year-old Luis Magana of Trial Farm Village, hung himself in Cell Block number three. Magana’s body was discovered by a police officer who was making his rounds and saw Magana’s body hanging from a piece of cloth which was tied to a bar of the cell with a brown belt tied around his neck. Magana was only detained one day before the incident, on the 16th of June, as result of a report made against him by his wife. The body of Magana was transported to the Northern Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The Body of Luis Magana now awaits a postmortem examination as Police are investigating.
