As a part of the red ribbon week, the Our Lady of Guadalupe Highschool hosted its second annual anti drug campaign to sensitize students about the hazards of drugs. Evita Palma, head of the business department, is the coordinator of the drug awareness week for the students of OLOG. She gave us more details about the event.
Evita Palma, Coordinator: The purpose for holding the event was to be Drug Free and to stay Drug Free, and our students are well in tune with what we’re doing. It’s a full week of activities, we started off Monday with our living rosary, followed by talent show, poster competition, and then we also had guest speakers from the National Drug abuse council and our Belmopan Police department. They also showcased their talent. The overall talent Is to be drug free. Like I mentioned, our theme this year is “Making healthy choices to create a healthy mind.”
Reporter: And this is the second time you guys are doing this?
Evita Palma, Coordinator: Yes, the second time we’ve been doing it, and so far it’s been very successful.
Reporter: Okay tell me about going through this competition and working on this project, what sort of things did you learn?
Throughout the week, students were encouraged to build posters and create cheers as part of the fight against the abuse of drugs.
