Yesterday, a vaccination session was hosted in Belmopan, but it was the condition under which the clinic was housed that stirred ire with the public. We were contacted and when we got there, we noticed that the Red Cross Building, where we understand the clinic should have been held was closed. Instead the clinic was relocated across the street at an outdoor location. As you can see in the video, the condition of the area is not exactly a healthy looking environment. Mothers and their infants were kept near a dilapidated tent that had no cover and was plastered with rust. Seeing that weather conditions were damp that day, residents were concerned that it was not a suitable shelter. In addition, the area was rather dusty and there were visible chunks of molds on the building outside the clinic. Yesterday we contacted the Ministry of Health to find out why the session was not housed at the Red Cross, but were told that it was organized by the Western Regional Hospital. We’ve attempted to get in touch with the Regional Health Manager at the hospital, but were informed that she has been in a meeting all day.
