Over 2,000 Residents of San Antonio Village, Cayo District Will Soon Have a New Health Centre

Village council elections are just around the corner. This means a few more projects will be rolling into several fortunate villages just in time for those elections. Today ground-breaking Ceremonies to commence the construction of the new San Antonio Health Centre were held at the Community Centre, San Antonio village, Cayo District.  The Government of Belize is funding the San Antonio Health Centre project at an estimated cost of $620,000.00 through a loan from the Caribbean Development Bank. The new health facility will provide primary health care services aimed to improve community health and reduce maternal and child morbidity and mortality, and reduce communicable and non-communicable diseases. Residents of San Antonio and surrounding communities will no longer have to travel to San Ignacio for primary health care services.  The health centre will comprise of  a two-storey concrete building with the upper floor serving as living quarters for medical staff.vlcsnap-2016-06-06-09h02m43s673 vlcsnap-2016-06-06-09h02m47s520
