Pacheco says she saw Alvorine Burges at Immigration several times

Chair of the Senate Select Committee, Aldo Salazar, had made it clear that he was not convinced of the accuracy of the testimony as given by whistleblower Alvorine Burgess.  Burgess had testified regarding her role as an agent in the processing of visa applications; a role for which she was paid for her services and then further handed payments to take for Minister Edmond Castro for his role as well. She gave a detailed description of her encounter with a police officer by the name of Rochelle Chan  who she claims was the one who introduced her to the line of work and gave her the payments. Chan, brother- in- law of Elvin Penner, when he was before the committee, denied everything Burgess said. In yesterday’s senate Inquiry, Chair Aldo Salazar took the opportunity to question Addy Pacheco on whether or not she knew of Burgess or saw her at the Immigration Department.

Aldo Salazar, Chairman, Senate Select Comittee:  You weren’t aware of agents who would take applications on behalf of persons? See we have gotten testimony particularly from, most recent memory, Miss Burgess but she was talking about VISAs; and she described a process where as people such as her who call themselves agents would deliver things. This was not the case in relations to Nationality?

Addy Pacheco, Clerk, Immigration Department:  I don’t recall any incident like that.vlcsnap-00190

Aldo Salazar, Chairman, Senate Select Comittee:  You were familiar with the VISA?

Addy Pacheco, Clerk, Immigration Department: Yes.

Aldo Salazar, Chairman, Senate Select Comittee:  What about the VISA?

Addy Pacheco, Clerk, Immigration Department: If those people brought in applications they were not brought in directly to me.

Aldo Salazar, Chairman, Senate Select Comittee:  Say for example same Miss Burgess, you were familiar with her?

Addy Pacheco, Clerk, Immigration Department: I use to see her around in the office. I didn’t even know her name before this whole thing.

Aldo Salazar, Chairman, Senate Select Comittee:  What period of time would you say she was around the office?

Addy Pacheco, Clerk, Immigration Department: I honestly can’t recall. But I know when I used to work at the Belmopan office I use to see her there from time to time.vlcsnap-00165

Aldo Salazar, Chairman, Senate Select Comittee:  When was this?

Addy Pacheco, Clerk, Immigration Department: 2011 2012. I’m not sure I can’t recall.
