There was a forum held in Belmopan on Tuesday night as part of the September celebrations, reflecting on Belize at 33 years of Independence. The Forum was titled “Where are we and where are we headed?” The Forum saw the participation of a wide cross section of patriotic Belizeans, including Minister Wilfred Elrington who did the opening remarks.
Social commentator and former Editor of Amandala, Glenn Tillet, was the first presenter of the night with a socio, political, and cultural perspective on the 33 year old nation.
Belizean businessman Alvin Henderson also presented a perspective on Belize’s trade and Economic Development.
Senator Hon. Joy Grant was the third presentor. Her presentation focused on looking forward to Belize’s future.
After the various presentations, students from several tertiary level educational institutions who were present, asked questions regarding the nation and its 33 years of Independence.
The Forum was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the University of Belize. It was aired Live on PlusTV.
