Phillip Willoughby’s application for U.D.P. standard bearer in Port Loyola has been accepted by the party’s nomination committee. The central executive of the party met on Saturday where they approved Willoughby’s candidacy. Councilor Gary Grief’s application was also approved on that date. He is running against his cousin, Manuel Heredia. Willoughby is running against several formidable UDP members, including Attorney General Michael Peyrefitte, Dean Samuels and A.C. Shane Castillo to succeed Area Rep. Anthony Boots Martinez, who will soon be retiring. Martinez has thrown his full support behind Peyrefitte’s candidacy.
