We told you last night about the OCEANA Oil concession case that wrapped up in the Supreme Court yesterday. The environmental organization is challenging concessions to six companies based on various breaches of contract and local law. The Prime Minister, who has previously supported offshore drilling, was very short in his reply when PLUS News asked whether GOB would consider cancelling the contracts if ordered by the courts.
DEAN BARROW – Prime Minister:
We will always try to respect the Court decision, subject naturally to our right to appeal.
Justice of the Supreme Court Oswell Legall has reserved judgment for a future date. Judgment is expected to be finished before mid-year, possibly by April.
