PNP condemns demolition of Noh Mul

The vocal agitation surrounding the destruction of Noh Mul continues. Today, the People’s National Party has come out to condemn the demolition of the archeological site, saying, “We consider this an act of sacrilege against all indigenous people, especially the Mayan community, and the entire nation and people of Belize. We are alarmed at how what essentially amounts to greed can completely obliterate in just a few short days a cultural and historic heritage that has stood for over 2,300 years. The PNP asks the government to fully disclose to the Belizean public all the terms and conditions related to the contract which resulted in road material being illegally exploited from this archeological site.” The PNP further urges the Government to hold all those involved responsible and allow the letter of the law to dictate the outcome.
