Police investigate firearms offence and robbery

On Saturday June 15th, Police conducted a searched at the residence of 31yr old Omar CALDERON, of Orange Walk Town. Present at time of the search was CALDERON and a 16year old minor. As a result of the search police recovered a black plastic bag containing (12) rounds of blank 7.62 ammunitions along with a magazine. Both CALDERON and the minor have been arrested and charged for “Kept Unlicensed Ammunition.

Police in the North is also investigating a robbery incident which took place on Saturday afternoon in Orange Walk. At 2:15pm a Customer Service Officer of Insurance Cooperation of Belize, Orange Walk Branch reported that while at work in her office, a male person of Spanish decent approached her at gun point and demanded money, jewelry and a Black Berry Cell phone. The woman told Police that the individual also stole from the business $1,760.03bcy in cash. Police immediately visited the area where they saw a Hispanic male person running through the back door of the building. Police set chase after him as he ran towards an unnamed street at which time they saw him putting a silver object by a fence.  He was later apprehended and taken back to the area where he hid the object. Police found (1) .22Revolver, and (7) .22 live rounds. The individual is currently in Police custody pending charges.
