Police make second arrest for child abduction

There has been a second arrest in last week’s abduction of a toddler. 36 year old Bernabel Pena was remanded for the kidnapping charge yesterday. He is expected to return to court on April 13th, along with whom police believe to be his co-conspirator. That person, 32 year old Thomas Villanueva, was arrested and charged last week. We note that several other persons were initially detained by Police, those persons, minus Pena and Villanueva has since been released. Police say that following the kidnapping, a family member of one of the suspects, became suspicious and handed the baby to Corozal police. The kidnappers were planning to collect close to a million dollars for the baby’s safe return.
