Police in Belize City say that they have dispatched added security in the Princess Margaret/Coney Drive vicinity, after catching a robber they believe have been targeting students in that area. One such incident is believed to have last week Tuesday. A 17 year old reported that while she was walking in the vicinity of UWI Princess Margaret Drive, along with a friend, at about 11:47 a.m, she was approached by a male person of apparent Creole descent who grabbed her purse. A struggle ensued in which she was allegedly punched on the lip by the merciless assailant, who then made off with her bag and cell phone. However, on this past Monday at about 2:30 in the afternoon, while she was enjoying a walk along the Princess Margaret Drive, she recognized the thief for which she promptly dialed the cops. Their quick response led to the arrest of 17 year old Elwin Pollard. The agents of the law and order charged him with the crime of Robbery and Handling Stolen Goods, along with 18 year old alleged accomplice Mr. Chevon Castellanos, who was also slapped with the same charge. Police have since recovered from Mr. Pollard, a 9350 Black Blackberry Phone and a phone chip valued at BZ$250 as property of the offended, along with a Homelite brand Weed Wacker and a Samsung Galaxy brand T-Mobile touch screen which the victim reported stolen. As we said, such area is under heavy security, as a pro-active method.
