Poll says Referendum would have received Yes vote

With all the talk about going to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) now just about done after news of the postponement of the October 6 referendum, we will not know for sure how Belizeans would have voted. But the Prime Minister told PLUS News on Monday that he has proof of how the vote would have gone on October 6. He tells us about it.

Hon. Dean Barrow – Prime Minister of Belize:
vlcsnap-2013-04-29-22h29m31s193My reports are that the polling that was done by the Referendum Unit, by an outfit called Precision Data, and I gather the polling was limited to urban areas, so please let me be quite clear, showed that we were likely to meet the 60% threshold, if the Referendum would have been held as scheduled, and that in terms of the urban areas, there was likely to be a “Yes” vote. Now, if you’ve got ant quarrel with that, take it up with Precision data.

Meanwhile we await word from the Referendum Unit and Ministry of Foreign Affairs on a financial report into the national education campaign launched in January, in which $9 million was projected to be spent.
