18 coaches, 13 males and 5 females, will be receiving professional training at FFB stadium in Belmopan through the FIFA Grassroots Program. This program is designed to equip coaches with the best coaching practices for kids ages 6 to 12, in hopes of enha ncing the level of football in the country. During the one week program, coaches will be engaged in theoretical and practical sessions which will be headed by FIFA Grassroots Instructor Lenny Lake, of St. Kitts and Nevis.
“We’re here to work with the Belize Federation to educate Coach Educators on best practices ofcoaching children ages six to twelve. It’s a one week program; it’s about seven days, in which we do theoretical work. Also we do practical work, field work, doing sessions, that are specific to the development of these young players.”
“It’s not just seven days of pure practical and theoretical, there is also a wonderful festival, which will be staged this Saturday coming, where we’re inviting the whole public to come out, to see these Coach Educators working with the children, and having fun and enjoying themselves.”
This is the second year that the FIFA Grassroots Program is being conducted in Belize.
