A press release sent on Tuesday from the British High Commissioner’s office in Belmopan announced Belize’s winner for the Queen’s Young Leadership Award 2014.
This year’s award recipient is Denielle Neal from Belize City. The British High Commission says Denielle Neal will be joining 60 other young people from across the Commonwealth, who are being recognized as exceptional leaders in their community.
The Queen’s Young Leaders official website notes that, “Since the age of 14 Denielle has worked hard to help better the lives of disadvantaged young girls and teenage mothers. She seeks to improve their opportunities and to help more girls into education, so that they will not be at risk of sexual exploitation or human trafficking.”
The Queen’s Young Leaders Program is a new initiative established by the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Trust, in partnership with Comic Relief and the Royal commonwealth Society, in recognition of the Queen’s lifetime of service to the Common wealth.
This year’s award winners aged between 18 to 29.
