As we told you on Monday, the date for the Dangriga by-election triggered by the resignation of PUP Area Representative Ivan Ramos, has been set. That date is Wednesday, 8th July. Nominations for persons wishing to contest the election will be received on Monday, 22nd June, at the Dangriga Town Hall, Dangriga Town. But no new registered person for those constituencies can turn out to vote in the election. Only if you were registered on or prior to May 10th 2015 are you eligible to vote in this by-election. A statement from the Press office says “…this is in conformity with the time table mandated by the Representation of the People Act to ensure that the period guaranteed by law for making objections and the hearing of appeals by the Revising Officer is complied with. Persons who applied to be registered after 10th May 2015 would not have gone through the process required by law as of nomination day.” The new PUP standard bearer is Anthony Sabal who will be contesting UDP’s Frank “Pawpa” Mena.
