Remembering Nelson Mandela

Former South African President, Nelson Mandela passed away today, at the age of 95. Mandela lead South Africa out of decades of apartheid after serving 27 years in prison. He was sentenced to prison for encouraging black South Africans to go on strike and for illegally leaving South Africa. Mandela was not only a South African icon, he was a world icon. In recent months, Mandela battled various health issues, including a recurring lung infection. On his 90th birthday, CNN’s Ronyn Curnow had the chance to sit down with Mandela in a rare and candid interview. In celebrating his life and legacy, tonight, we bring you that clip.
