Rochelle Chan doesn’t have much to say about Burgess’ allegations

The name of Assistant Superintendent Rochelle Chan, Officer Commanding the Hattieville Police Station , was called by Alvorine Burgess when she sat before the Senate Select Inquiry this past Wednesday. Burgess, who admits to having run a visa application business for money, identified Hon. Edmond Castro as her go to Minister for recommendations, paying him $2000 per approved visa. She also mentioned Minister Anthony Boots Martinez and Erwin Contreras as well. According to Burgess’ statement at the hearing, she was first introduced into the business by the brother- in- law of Elvin Penner, who is Rochelle Chan. She told the Committee that Chan accosted her and asked her if she was interested in the business since she knew some Ministers, including her ex boyfriend Edmond Castro. With her connection to Castro, all she would have to do is get him to sign the visa application forms as a recommender. Burgess alleges that Chan told him he used to be in the business with his brother- in- law, Penner, but Penner was getting too greedy and so he was looking to move into continuing the business on his own. Today, the media caught up with accused police officer, Rochelle Chan. He didn’t have much to say but started off by saying that he hasn’t really heard or read much on what was said by Burgess, whom he knows as “Cosa”.

Rochelle Chan, Officer in Charge of Hattieville Police Station: I have not read nor heard what has been said in the Senate Select. What I can say right now is that if there is any comment that I need to say in regards to whatever have been said, I would reserve that for now. I am seeking legal advice in relation to whatever have been said. In relation to the comments that have been through the social media, I cannot stop anyone from saying anything. I know that the honorable senate select is conducting an inquiry and things have come forth and in relation to Miss Alvarine Burgess as mentioned, I do not know her in that name. I know her, I will not deny the fact, by Cosa. Her name is Cosa as far as I concern and I saw her picture. But nonetheless I would not want to elaborate in anything in relation to the inquiry for now.

As for his relationship with Elvin Penner, this is what he had to say.vlcsnap-2017-06-03-16h38m14s359

But how does Burgess’ claim affect Chan?  He says it hasn’t really affected him as yet, but he is wary of future political victimization.

Rochelle Chan, Officer in Charge of Hattieville Police Station: Presently, it has not affected me in any way, but I can foresee from my point of view in opinion that maybe and it’s my opinion to say some sort of victimization, some later future date when the time comes. Because the way I see it, this is an inquiry but it seems in my opinion now, a more political venture and I am now having place by Miss Cosa to certain things. I know the senate is conducting an audit report investigation. I have not seen that report, but I don’t think my name has been mentioned in there. Nonetheless, let’s see where we go with that.
