Rounding up drugs and firearms

A joint police operation was conducted in some abandoned lots in Belize City. With the aid of a K-9,  a search was conducted in an open lot in the Kraal Road area which resulted in the discovery of three black plastic bags containing 812 grams of Cannabis. A search was also conducted in an open lot in the Conch Shell Bay area where two more black plastic bags were found containing 255 grams of Cannabis. All bags of cannabis were taken to the police station and labeled as “Found Property.” On Tuesday 24th March, Corozal Police were on special operations on Santa Maria Street, Corozal Town, when their attention was drawn to a male person standing beside a cement house. He was approached and informed that a search would be conducted on him for drugs and firearm. The search resulted in the discovery of a white powder bottle in his pants pocket. Inside the bottle were  seven small bags with cannabis weighing 19 grams.  The culprit, 21 year old Belizean labourer of Corozal, Angel Cahueque, was arrested and charged for the offence of Possession of Controlled drugs.  Also in Corozal, police were on special operation on the Chunox Road. About 1/4 mile before reaching the village, 46 year old Naturalised Belizean jose Melendez,  was stopped  and searched. Police found  weed inside Melendez’  cap . He was also arrested and charged for possession of controlled drugs.
