San Ignacio Police are investigating a report of Burglary. A manager for PROWORLD office reported to Police that she is the only one authorized to sign cheques for the organization and that she had signed several cheques as requested by PROWORLD director. She stated that between the 19th and 21st day of December 2012 the Local Director requested that she signed several blank company cheques from a Scotia Bank cheque book account number and left it inside the metal safe at the office. The manager told Police than on the 4th of January, 2013 she checked on the Bank account online, where she observed that on the 24th day of December, 2012 a cheque was cashed for the amount of 13,000.00 Bcy which is one of the cheques that she had signed. She then began making inquiries with the Director for the voucher and receipt to show accountability. On the 28th day of January 2013 she visited the Scotia Bank San Ignacio Branch to freeze all transaction on the other cheques which she had signed previously. The bank Officials then reported to her that on that same date, a project manager for PROWORLD had cashed a cheque for the amount of $2,400.00 Bcy. She reportedly found out that a cheque for $13,000.00 Bcy was paid to a person from San Ignacio Town for a green Mitsubishi Montero Vehicle registered in the name of a project coordinator for Proworld. According to the Manager the vehicle purchased by the Organization’s funds was never approved by the Global Director of Proworld. Police investigations continue.
