A man from the village of Roaring Creek, Cayo District, was reported missing over the weekend, and police are now searching for his body in the nearby river.
According to police reports, 24 year old Corwin Mendoza, of Roaring Creek Village, went missing sometime on Sunday.
On Monday an anonymous call to police informed them that Corwin was murdered, and his body thrown in the Creek beside the Nazarene Church Primary School in Roaring Creek Village.
Police took decisive action and started combing the creek around 11:00 am Monday morning, with the assistance of the Belize Coast Guard, and residents of the village. The search began from the Nazarene area in Roaring Creek all the way to where the Creek meets the Belize River.
The search lasted until around 4:00 pm Monday evening; nevertheless the search party resulted in no discovery of a body.
Belmopan police have since detained two persons of interest while investigations continue.
The search for the missing man resumes Tuesday at 6:30 am at the Belize River in the Roaring Creek area.
