Security guard at UB shot

There was a shooting on Friday night in Belize City. A security guard on duty at one of the UB campuses in Belize City was shot. Police told us more.

ASP Alejandro Cowo: Sometime after 1:25 this morning, police responded to a shooting incident at the Faculty of Education at the University of Belize, the old teacher’s college. There after they had been informed that a victim had been transported to the Karl Huesner Memorial Hospital, and upon making checks at that location they observed Edwin Brian Williams, a security guard working at that institution with an apparent gunshot wound to the left side of his leg. What we understand so far is that Mr. Williams was working that night there along with two other security guards and while he was at the booth on the compound, he was approached by a male person who came and fired a shot at him. He managed to struggle with the male person and then ran into the compound and as he was running the person fired several other shots at him which caused the injury to his leg. He was admitted at the hospital and he has been discharged on the same morning.

Police say they are still investigating and do not know what was the motive for the shooting at this time.
