A senior citizen of Belize City is being accused of burglarizing the home of a woman. Police say that 75-year-old Amos Wright, a self-employed resident of the Port Loyola area of Belize City burglarized the home of Geneva Trapp. Allegations are that on Wednesday, July 24, 2013, Amos Wright entered the home and stole, a 24-inch brand television, and a grey tablet all to a total of $1,699.00 BZE. Things took an interesting turn this morning though, when Wright told the court that he lives at the house and that the woman is his tenant. Wright pleaded not guilty to the charge of burglary after which the police prosecutor asked the court to set conditions to Wrights bail, so that he does not interfere with the victim. This is when Waight told the court that that is next to impossible since the woman is his tenant; they must do business and communicate. The magistrate told him that for now, he will have to make sure someone does that business on his behalf until his case concludes. Waight was offered bail in the sum of $2,500 which he met. His next court date is set for September 2, 2013.
