There was a serious traffic accident this afternoon on the George Price Highway at mile 11. The accident involved a dump truck, a black Jeep, and an ambulance. Details are still sketchy at this time however, we understand that the Jeep was headed to Belmopan and the dump truck was headed towards Belize City. Preliminary information is that the driver of the black jeep lost control of the vehicle and slammed into the front driver’s side of the truck. That truck was loaded with supplies and the impact extensively damaged the jeep as the entire top and side of the vehicle ripped away from the frame. The persons in the jeep were flung out and landed in the swamps near the highway . We understand that a family was in the vehicle and both parents are listed in critical condition. There was also an ambulance involved in the accident as it was driving behind the truck and when the jeep crashed into the truck, the ambulance then crashed into the back of the truck. Two ambulances were called to the scene of the accident where four persons were taken to the hospital, and as we said, at least two of them are listed as critical.
