An apartment complex on Campos Avenue in Belize City saw several apartments burglarized; and in one of those cases, someone was at home at the time of the invasion. On Tuesday August 7th, sometime around 4:30 p.m., 42 year old Rosa Zorilla , a Cuban national, was inside her apartment, number 7. She says someone knocked on her door that afternoon and upon opening the door, two male persons with bandanas over their faces and armed with what appeared to be a 9 mm handguns, entered her apartment. The men hit her to the left side of her face and eye which caused a cut wound. They then stole several pieces of jewelry and a laptop computer, all to a value of two thousand dollars before making good their escape. When police responded to the armed invasion, they learnt that two other apartments in the same building were also burglarized that afternoon. No one was in the other two apartments at the time they were entered but apartment No. 9, which is rented by Belizean Psychologist 28 year old Deshane Gutierez, was robbed of cell phones and cash amounting to nine hundred and seventy five dollars. Then apartment No. 11, rented by 62 year old Trinidadian doctor Samantha Scott, was also burglarized. The Value of the items stolen from apartment 11 have not yet been ascertained. Police are investigating.
