Police investigations have revealed that a ten wheeler with license plate OW-A-00282 was being driven by 44 year old Servando Salazar of Orange Walk Town travelling from Corozal Town to the Northern border. Behind the ten wheeler, Gabriel Pott and his wife Elodia Pott were driving in the same direction in a red Nissan Pickup, license plate CZL-C-16431.
Also on the road was Marcelo Damien Aguilar, a taxi driver of Concepcion Village, who was driving in a grey Toyota van, license plate CZL-D-00208, in the opposite direction.
Also in the grey van was 16 year old Francisco Hernandez and 21 year old Nelson Pech both of Cocepcion village. Reports have it that between miles 87 and 88 of the George Price Highway, Aguillar collided head on into the ten wheeler, losing control and then colliding into the driver’s side of the red pickup behind the trailer.
The trailer lost control as a result of the impact and drove off the highway, causing it to flip on its back with its ten wheels on the air.
Eloida Pott complained of pain to her chest and sustained abrasions to her chest; Servando Salazar, the driver of the ten wheeler, sustained a large cut wound on the right side of his face and nose and was transported to the KHMH.
Francisco Hernandez sustained injuries to the right side of his foot and abrasions to the right side of his chest and Nelson Pech sustained a cut wound to the right side of his head. The Body of Marcelo Aguillar was transported to the Corozal Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
