Shooting leaves Belize City man hospitalized

48 year old Mark Franklin Broaster is recovering at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital from injuries sustained when a gunman targeted him around 7:20Monday night in Belize City. The resident of the Pickstock Street area was standing in front of his house when his would-be killers came calling. We hear more from Superintendent Hilberto Romero.

“There was a shooting at the corner Pickstock and Lovely Lane, where Mark Broaster was shot to the hand. Information is that he hang around in that area when shots rang out and he received those injuries. He is presently admitted at the KHMH receiving treatment.”

“Could you tell us if the shooting in any way connected to the recent spurt of violence?”

 

Supt. Hilberto Romero

“We are not sure. We are investigating this report and we will record statements and conduct more interviews to determine if we can charged anyone for this shooting.”

“Has anyone been detained?”

 

Supt. Hilberto Romero

“We have some persons of interest that were detained and those will be interviewed.”

 

Reporter

“Is he known to be somebody maybe affiliated?”

 

Supt. Hilberto Romero

“No. He drinks alcohol beverages and hangs out in that area. We do not know him to be associated to any gang or anything.”

 

Police are investigating and do not believe this incident is linked to any of the three deaths and one injury reported from shootings in the last week.
