Student accused of stabbing friend

Police have laid charges of attempted murder, dangerous harm and use of deadly means of harm against 20 year old student Musa Smith of Kraal Road, Belize City.

According to 28 year old Tyrone Scott, on December 21, around 4:15 p.m., he went to Musa Smith’s house to drop off some school books. Tyrone Scott told police that he went upstairs and knocked on Smith’s door and when Smith answered he told his friend to come downstairs. A short while after while the two were downstairs,

Musa Smith’s girlfriend, Tamika Miranda, came downstairs and asked Smith to accompany her upstairs. Smith went up, Scott followed behind and knocked on the door, but received no answer. He then went back downstairs. It was then that Smith approached him with a kitchen knife and stabbed him in the middle of the back and left upper shoulder.

Police came to the scene and saw Tyrone Scott lying under the house step bleeding. He was transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital and admitted to ward for treatment. Mr Scott gave police a statement identifying Musa Smith as his attacker, upon his release from hospital five days later.

On Monday, before Magistrate Dale Cayetano, Musa Smith was read his charges, and remanded into custody until February 16, with no plea taken as the charges are indictable.
