Like the Tribute to Belizean Patriots, the Annual School Children’s Rally is a national tradition. Take 800 screaming children, give them national flags, play patriotic music and seat them in a large arena and what ensues is a good time for all. Originally scheduled for Birds’ Isle this year’s event in the City was held at the Holy Redeemer Parish Hall. Minister of Education Patrick Faber gives us an overview.
Patrick Faber – Minister of Education:
It’s always a joy to be among then, especially on these national occasions. There is an opportunity for those of us who spoke to share with the children how important it is for them to pay appreciation to days like today, but also days like what we celebrate the entire month of September. But it is also an opportunity for us to remind them of the very basis things, to stay in school and of course to aim high for achievement. We take seriously every opportunity we get in the Ministry of Education to do just that.
Coordinator and organizer Leroy Green says special care was taken to have this year’s performances, from schools across the City, be reflective of individual talent and the overall theme of the September Celebrations.
Similar events were held across the country.
