Taiwan hands over vehicles to Inspiration Center

Opened in March of this year, the Inspiration Center at Mile 1 1/2 on the George Price Highway is dedicated to improving the lives of children and adults with special needs, and making them an integral part of Belizean society.

For those who are unable to walk, the Center provides transport with two specially outfitted buses, which carry chair lifts for those in wheelchairs and otherwise physically unable to walk.

On Tuesday the Center thanked the donors of the two vehicles, the Republic of China (Taiwan), which was also one of the major donors for the Center’s construction.

Formally accepting the donation on behalf of the Center was its Chairperson of the Board of Directors and Special Envoy for Women and Children Kim Simplis Barrow.

Before the handing over, the visiting Taiwanese delegation was given a tour of the Center. Approximately 60 persons young and old are current active clients of the Center, which offers space for physical therapy and special activities for those with special needs.
