Teacher is charged with knocking down a police officer in the city

42 year old Teacher, Kevin Nigel Campbell, of Belize City, was arraigned in the Belize City Magistrate Court for driving a motor vehicle without due care and attention and negligent harm upon a police officer, Police Constable, 32 year old Adonias Gonzalez. Campbell knocked down P.C. Gonzalez on Saturday, September 3rd at about 1:00 a.m., whilst PC Gonzales was conducting motorcycle patrol along with PC Alix Cal. They had been responding to a reported assault on a female in front of the bus terminal on West Collet Canal. But they did not make it as at the corner of Cemetery and Magazine Road, Campbell’s gray Isuzu Axiom traveling from Magazine Road into Dolphin Street collided with the constable’s motorcycle. The officer sustained abrasions to his left knee, left forearm, left leg and sprained his left knee. PC Gonzalez was escorted to the KHMH by BERT ambulance where he was treated and later released.   The medical officer classified his injuries as harm. Teacher Campbell was detained and later arrested and charged.  Campbell pleaded not guilty and met bail of 600 dollars. He returns to court on November 7, 2016.
