A teenager has been charged with the attempted murder of Belize City resident Ronald Rivers. Earlier this week, we told you that 28 year Ronald Rivers was shot while fixing a vehicle in front of the UNO Gas Station. Police were in the area at the time and saw 18 year old Lloyd Alexander King, riding away from the gas station, while trying to put what appeared to be a handgun in his pocket. Police set chase on him and were able to catch him. They searched him and found the gun – a .38 revolver along with three live rounds. King was arrested and charged with keeping an unlicensed firearm and ammunition and plead guilty to the charges. He was sentenced to five years in prison for each offense. The sentences are to run concurrently, which means he will only spend five years. But along with those charges, he was additionally charged with attempted murder, use of deadly means of harm and dangerous harm. King is set to reappear in Court on April 16th to answer for those charges. Meanwhile, Rivers remains in the KHMH in serious condition.
